Sushi is the highlight at Lola's, one of Nantucket's newest restaurants. This is a fun place, dominated by a bar that pours colorful and uncommon specialty concoctions at $10 to $12 a pop. The theme is "neoglobal" cuisine: pasta and osso bucco from Italy, bacalao (salt cod with polenta and caviar) from Barcelona, and Asian-inspired green and black tea-glazed chicken breast with Buddha's rice. There are even fried clams and calamari -- both very good -- on the appetizer list. But most people are here for the impressive sushi bar, where you can gorge on nigiri and sashimi to your heart's content.

| Food | This is the best place to get sushi on the island. We had the bluefin toro one night and it was amazing. The tuna burger was also fresh and flavorful. The duck was cooked to perfection, the skin still crispy. They also make awesome cocktails...The happy hour from 5-6 pm is not bad. I think everything's half-priced. |
| Bartender/Staff | This used to be my favorite bar on the island...when Graeden Ambrose worked behind the bar. Actually, whatever bar Graeden worked was always my favorite bar for the summer. Bad, bad move not keeping him around. Graeden is a celebrity. The bartenders here are great and really, really awesome, but no one can compare to Graeden - he knew how to turn the entire bar into a party. |
| Attitude | Like I said, I love the bartenders, but the place is poorly managed. Seating at the bar is nearly impossible and it's very disorganized. The management has too much attitude so the place has gotten a little institutional, filled with Nantucket assholes. You have to make a reservation or get on a list just to eat at the bar. The only positive thing I can say about the management at this place is that it's not as bad as 21 Federal, where you can't enter without wearing a collared shirt. Fuck that. |
| Scene | Very hip...In fact, maybe a little too hip. It's definitely the place to see and be seen on a Friday or Saturday night on Nantucket in the middle of the summer. |
| Get Lucky Factor | This is the place to go if you're on ACK and looking for action. Boys, girls, everyone comes to Lola on weekends - the place gets packed. But as I've said for other Nantucket reviews...careful what you do here. It's a small island and you're bound to have a run in later in the weekend. |
